You don't need to keep up with everything, and nobody does. Focus on depth in your area and awareness of the rest.

A sustainable approach:

  1. Know your core deeply: your main language, framework and fundamentals. These change slowly and matter most.
  2. Skim, don't chase: a weekly newsletter or two about your stack is enough to notice important changes. You don't need to try every new tool.
  3. Learn new things when you need them, for a real project or a problem at work. You'll remember them far better.
  4. Set a time budget: for example a couple of hours a week of deliberate learning, not every evening.
  5. Prefer fundamentals over trends: databases, networking, testing, system design and clear writing stay valuable for decades.

Signs you're overdoing it: constant anxiety about falling behind, starting many courses and finishing none, or learning eating all your rest time.

Rest is part of getting better. Share what you're currently learning in our learning thread.
